We were originally introduced to Kelly, in 1999, for his skills as a Unix systems administrator, specializing in network protocols (TCP-IP, Appletalk, etc.) and back-end programming (Perl, Java, C/C++, etc.). Quickly, we were further amazed by his systems engineering capabilities.
He showed us where we could save over $100K, without sacrificing system integrity, by integrating Open-Source applications and using hardware that was appropriate for its function. The end result was a complete internet solution, that had server redundancies, load-balancing, and even a Wide Area Network intranet for our telecommuting office culture.
